Job Title: Mechanical Plant Technician

Job Description

  • We are now looking for a Mechanical Plant Technician to join our O&M team at Ewekoro, Nigeria. The Successful candidate will report to the Maintenance Manager.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Responsible for economical and safe operations and maintenance of the plant during the designated shift. To comply with all safety regulations including isolation, lock out and tag out.
  • Responsible for maintaining the machines and auxiliary equipment in good conditions of cleanliness, take the necessary steps for the prevention and correction of the found abnormalities.
  • Reconditioning of engine components, overhaul of engine components
  • Be able to isolate and prepare for the stopping and starting of engines, be able to resolve possible flaws that occurs during the starting and stopping.
  • Carry out corrective inspections of all mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical equipment and supervision of the engines.
  • Reset alarmed equipment on plant panels, be able to identify the alarms which occurred in the electric panels and equipment protection and to correct all abnormalities that occur in equipment.
  • Be able to assemble and disassemble completely and clean internal components of the lubricating oil and heavy oil separators, be able to identify abnormalities that occur in these referred separators, presenting probable solutions.
  • Be able to start the engines and to synchronize them and present immediate solutions of protection of the equipment in cases of possible flaws.
  • Be able to identify and locate all existing sensors and transmitters of pressure and temperature of the engines and their auxiliary equipment, knowing how to test them and to substitute them if necessary.
  • Be able to identify and correct abnormalities that occur to the excitation systems of the engines as well as the test the protection and supervision equipment of these excitation systems.
  • Maintenance of machine tools, fixtures, cutting tools and hand tools.
  • Sub assembly work
  • Reporting of the work
  • To clean and keep the working area in good order
  • Proposals for spare parts order stock, stock keeping and inventory making, arranging of arriving goods.

You Will Shine in this Role When You Have

  • HND / B.Eng / B.Sc / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent educational background.
  • Minimum of 3 years of working experience.
  • Proven Working experience on Wartsila W50 DF Engines is an added advantage
  • Proven working experience in a power plant is an added advantage
  • Working experience with international companies (such as oil & gas and Power plants) being highly focused on the implementation and respect of QHSE procedure is an added advantage.
  • Perform all activities needed to reach the objectives of the position and comply with the orders, instructions, values, and company policies applicable as employee and/or the position.
  • Understanding of Wärtsilä business, quality, and workplace safety is a plus.

  • We are now looking for a Maintenance Manager to join our O&M team in Ewekoro, Nigeria. The Successful candidate will report to the Agreement Manager.

What will you be doing?

  • Plan, lead and manage daily maintenance activities at the plant and/or assigned team in order to ensure customer satisfaction and to reach set contractual quality, financial, cost and time targets.
  • Ensure maintenance reliability and availability of the plant according to contract.
  • Ensure that the performance targets of the plant are reached according to the contract in own responsibility area.
  • Ensure competent resources and competence development of the maintenance resources and/or assigned team.
  • Ensure that the condition of the plant and equipment are according to applicable guidelines and policies and take corrective actions when needed.
  • Ensure that the work is executed at plant according to Wärtsilä Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental guidelines and customer site procedures as well as assigned maintenance plan.

Job Requirements

  • MSc. / BEng. / B.Sc. in Mechanical, Marine, Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Strong work-related experience as project Maintenance Manager will reliable years of field service experience OR Proven job experience in power plants/ marine/industrial at managerial level.
  • Several years of relevant working experience on Wärtsilä engines or similar 4-stroke engines.
  • Several years of experience on Wärtsilä W18V50DF Engines is an added advantage.
  • In-depth understanding of maintenance management procedures.
  • Cost awareness & effectiveness Local legislations and labour laws Wärtsilä quality, safety, environment skills Workplace ICT equipment & applications skill.

Job Title: Service Engineer (4 Stroke)

  • We are now looking for a Service Engineer (4 Stroke) to join our Field Service team at Lagos, Nigeria. The Successful candidate will report to the Field Services Operations Coordinator.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • Take a leading role and assist with all work being carried out while maintaining good morale and team spirit.
  • Be aware of the local work instructions for overhauling components and ensure they are understood and adhered to.
  • Provide accurate and timely solutions whilst maintaining a high service quality level across all allocated jobs.
  • Liaise with customer on site handling enquiries and technical queries.
  • Actively advise and promote available products and solutions to customers.
  • Liaise closely with the Service Coordinator to provide progress status of the assigned work and ensure service deadlines are met.
  • Ensure that all activities on-site are carried out in accordance with the site safety rules and in compliance with the Company’s Health and Safety obligations and is in line with applicable Quality, Health & Safety and Environmental Standards.
  • Ensure that all timesheets (signed by customer) and expense sheets are submitted on a weekly basis.
  • Submit accurate and high-quality service work reports within 48 hours of returning home from assigned jobs.
  • Adopt a pleasant, adaptable attitude to assist Company staff with any “ad-hoc” duties that may be required.
  • Execute planned maintenances and repairing jobs on Wärtsilä OEM engines and it’s auxiliaries overhaul engine components at site/on board.
  • Perform commissioning of Wärtsilä equipment.
  • Carry out engine product troubleshooting, routine maintenance & components investigation
  • Prepare service work reports and travel expense reports on time and with expected Wärtsilä quality informing administrative personnel as required.
  • Identify failures, making adjustments, assist on trial runs and testing.
  • Carry out all tasks in such a way as to ensure maximum (internal and external) satisfaction at all times.
  • In addition to the above duties and responsibilities, the post holder must be prepared to undertake such additional duties within their capabilities which may result from changing circumstances, but which may not of necessity, change the general character or level of responsibility of the position.

  • A formal Education qualification within Engineering field e.g., B.Eng / HND / HNC.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in Wartsila engines and associated products or other related OEMs.
  • A proven background within an Engineering/Service environment.

  • Equipment Maintenance data and Logbook updating on daily basis, Maximo updating,
  • Monitoring of equipment health and reporting to his supervisor.
  • Spare part planning, follow up and optimize the cost
  • To do the 5s and housekeeping activities in the plant and maintain the plant premises.

  • Degree in Electrical / Instrumentation Engineering.
  • 3 to 5 years work related experience.
