Responsibilities

  • Acquire, onboard, and retain new individual and corporate clients through direct promotion and assist prospects with loan applications.
  • Initiate the Credit Assessment process and ensure disbursement is done within agreed timelines
  • Portfolio management, with full responsibility for the portfolio’s growth and quality
  • Collaborating with internal team members (Digital Marketing, Customer Engagement, and Collections) to continuously improve the process

Job Title: Credit Risk and Compliance Manager

  • We are currently seeking to hire a ‘hands-on’ Credit  Risk and Compliance Manager to join its team. The Credit Risk Management team’s primary responsibility is to evaluate and process new and existing customer credit applications. Its goal is to avert large-scale potential losses by implementing a high-quality credit analysis and scoring model, making sound and informed credit decisions, and early identification and monitoring of credit risks.
  • The purpose of this role is to facilitate the implementation of various Credit Risk Management team functions. You will have a strong grasp of end-to-end credit request processing. You’ll be in charge of conducting in-depth credit assessments and making recommendations for existing and prospective clients.

Responsibilities
Credit Applications:

  • Process credit applications and make recommendations, outlining any risk factors that may affect the credit decision.
  • Justify credit judgments in writing and verbally.
  • Give account relationship managers early feedback on potential and existing customer requests.
  • Provide constructive feedback on the work of other members of the Credit Risk Analysis team.
  • Ensure quick turnaround of credit requests and ensure the Credit Application Status Log is updated.

Credit Research:

  • Conduct extensive credit research using financial and non-financial sources into countries, industries/sectors, and individual borrowers/counterparties in your portfolio.
  • Participate in due diligence site visits(where necessary), phone conversations, and meetings with customers.
  • Analyze various risk elements of our clients under the assigned industry sectors/products.

Risk Committees:

  • Prepare for and attend risk committee meetings.

Credit Portfolios:

  • Develop and execute credit portfolio risk monitoring activities, including analytics.
  • Create, enhance and maintain reports on key risk metrics, concentrations, and stratifications of the loan portfolio
  • Monitor the risk of client portfolios to ensure they stay within agreed parameters of the Credit Policy and the Risk Appetite Statement.

Compliance and Audit Readiness:

  • Manage compliance with internal policies, workflow procedures, etc
  • Monitor the regulatory landscape on a frequent basis to anticipate regulatory risk.

Projects and Initiatives:

  • Collaborate with Management Team on continuously updating the  automated credit scoring model using modern credit risk management methodologies
  • Set up new and innovative underwriting models and workflows
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (Product, Developers, UI/UX Designers, Marketing & Growth) to optimize conversion rates.

Your Profile

  • A Graduate Degree in a relevant field of study, previous experience in the financial sector is a strong plus
  • Ideally, you have a good understanding of Credit Risk Management and the metrics that are used to measure these risks

  • Some experience with coordinating IT implementation projects and the ability to work on multiple tasks in a non-routine environment
  • Need to have some technical affinity, to better understand what the coders are doing, paired with data analysis skills (e.g. SQL queries)
  • Skilled in Excel and handling of large data (with SQL); basic coding skills in at least one programming language [and experience with statistical modeling] are an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze significant amounts of raw data and draw valid inferences and present them successfully to management using a reporting tool
