| Position Highlights | The purpose of this position is to contribute to the research and development efforts within the Roman-Palacios lab by coordinating members and procedures within the lab, evaluating current and future technologies, and ensuring regulatory compliance of the research program. The candidate will also participate in grant proposal preparation and writing, co-develop and conduct multiple moderately complex to complex research projects, and oversee day-to-day operation of projects while supervising support personnel and students. An important component of this position will be to work as part of a team in the daily function of the laboratory. The successful candidate will plan, coordinate, and participate in all basic aspects of contemplated research projects and maintain constant communication and collaborations with CDLS-UCLA and Knowledge River.

| Duties & Responsibilities | Research Development, Design and Execution:
Coordinates laboratory and, if needed, field work operations. Contributes to ensuring regulatory compliance of the research program by coordinating with granting agencies and regulators as required by research program. Evaluates current and future technologies. Publication & Grant Proposal Preparation, Writing, Facilitation: Participates in the acquisition of research funding by initiating and writing grant proposals. Will author, co-author, present or co-present results with the principal investigator at meetings or conferences. Oversees day-to-day operation of project and supervise support personnel and students. Project/Lab Management: Co-develops, co-designs, and conducts multiple moderately complex to complex research projects in line with plan. Co-develops and establishes functional timelines to complete assigned work to meet the requirements of the lab. Maintains servers and GitHub repos associated with projects developed by lab members. Outreach: Maintains constant communication and collaborates on proposals with CDLS-UCLA. Maintains constant communication and collaborates on proposals with Knowledge River. |
| Minimum Qualifications | Bachelor’s degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
Minimum of 3 years of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience required. |
| Preferred Qualifications | Master’s degree – Field of study: Micro-Biology, Chemistry, Biology. |
