Position Summary Information
General Information | The Lifelong Learning Institute in the School of Professional and Continuing Education is seeking a reliable, responsible student to intern with our department. The intern will facilitate the technology for our hybrid courses, troubleshoot technology issues for instructors, and ensure both in-person and online participants are successfully engaged. |
Duties and Responsibilities | Learn the technology and best practices of a hybrid classroom. Function as the technical person for the duration of a class, as well as 15 minutes before and after the class ends. Respond to participant questions that are technology related. Provide direction and solutions to common connectivity issues. Connect online participants as they enter the online classroom. Place participants in break-out rooms as needed within a curriculum. Provide technology training where needed and support for hybrid communication to instructors and participants. The GA is expected to work an average of 20 hours per week. |
Qualifications | Prompt, responsible, professional. Able to be on-site at the Ice House for all classes. Good interpersonal skills. Exceptional communication skills. Previous work with older adults preferred.
Interns must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits undergraduate, 5 credits graduate). |
Conditions of Employment | Students may apply to a graduate assistantship prior to being accepted into a graduate program. However, to be eligible to receive an assistantship upon entry into a graduate program, the following criteria must be met: The student must be conditionally or unconditionally accepted into a graduate program. Students who are provisionally accepted will not be eligible until they achieve conditional or unconditional acceptance into their program.
The students must have an official transcript on file indicating completion of a baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution or agency
After receiving an assistantship, the student must maintain at least a 3.0 graduate GPA in order to retain or reapply for the assistantship. These are minimum criteria. Graduate program coordinators have the right to impose additional criteria if they see fit. |
