Death Toll Rises To 8 As Lasema Boss Says Collapsed Ebute Metta Building Was Sealed For Demolition But Occupants Refused To Move

 

The death toll from the collapsed three-storey building on Ibadan Street,  Ebute Metta, has risen to 8.

The LASEMA DG, Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said the building was dilapidated and had been sealed for demolition, but occupants refused to evacuate.

Sadly, the building gave way on Sunday evening, May 1, while occupants were at home.

Oke-Osanyintolu said the death toll now stands at 8 and 22 people have been rescued so far.
